Rough Guide to Bali

Penjor "Hey I am coming to Bali, can you recommend me things to do?" I got that question a lot. I get it, I live in Bali so people would think that I master everything about Bali. Well... 50:50. I happened to travel around Bali since 2017. So it wasn't wrong to assume me knowing Bali. But I am also a lazy traveler so I don't always do many things in one place.  That is why we will call this a rough guide to Bali.  First thing first, define your style of traveling. Because we all know that Bali is an island. Not a city. So it is quite big, you know. You can not explore all of it in two weeks. Well you might be able to do so, but probably not immersing enough of it.  So... what is your style of traveling? Bali offers you some cultures, quiet normal life, party hotspots, quiet beaches, busy beaches, temples, and so on.  Mt Batur West part of Bali (Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta) If you enjoy partying, you might want to spend your time more in the west part of Bali like Canggu, ...

An iPad #2

Masih inget ndak soal si adek kecil yang pengen banget punya iPad dan berniat mendapatkannya dengan cara ngomong bahasa inggris sama si mas? Minggu kemaren saya skype sama si mas. Seperti biasa dong ngobrol sana sini ngalor ngidul begitu, eh tiba-tiba  dia nanya "Cimi mana?", jadilah manggil si adek. Ndak taunya si adek semangat banget mau skype. Ndak tau kenapa dia sering juga minta skype duluan ke mas

Kita jadi share headset tho, salam pertama seperti biasa "Hai iPad". Si mas itu laki kok ya dipanggil iPad -_-, gitu ya si mas bales panggilnya "Hey miss iPad". Alamakk mereka cocok sama gilanya. Nah karena syaratnya itu harus bisa ngobrol bahasa inggris aktif, jadilah si adek mulai ngobrol. dia bilangnya begini :

adek : What do you like breakfast? *prasaan yang bener bukan begini ya*
mas : ohh pecel *bilang pecel ala aksen bule*
adek : Hah? ngomong apa mbak?
aku : pecelllll
adek : ohh pecel. what do you like drink?
mas : I like coffee
adek : ohh kopi. what do you like singer? *makin ngaco*
mas : what??
aku : kamu mau nanya apa? kamu suka nyanyi apa kamu adalah penyanyi?
adek : suka nyanyi mbakkk
aku : do you like singing dekk
adek : ok, do you like singing?
mas : *buffering, tiba-tiba manggil nama si adek* hey Simi!!!
adek : Cimi, not Simi
mas : *buffering* sorry cant hear you
aku : she is complaining, her name is Cimi not Simi
mas : Ahh I see... Simi... blablablabla
adek : *si adek bufferingnya udah level dewa*  mbakk, aku nggak paham. udah wes ya, bingung aku. bye
aku : hyahhhhh nyerahh dia

Kita berdua lanjut ngobrol, si adek kecil tiba-tiba berantem sama si adek yang satunya.

That was last weekend story at home

Fire in the Building

Who would have thought that I  experienced fire in the building.  This is my first time living in an appartement. Of course I never chose appartement when living in Indonesia because it’s a real high risk when the earthquake happen. But here we are placed in an appartement. What got me relieved the first time that we are in the lowest floor so if something happen we will be quickly evacuated.  That’s what I thought.  Until it really happened.  We slept around midnight and abruptly woken up by the noise outside. I thought it was the drunk people just got back from night club or the restaurant next door was doing some deep cleaning. So loud that I had to wake up. My husband peeked outside and immediately said “fire brigade outside, you wait here!” I was just “am I dreaming or what?” I put on clothes, checked outside and saw a few of fire trucks. I checked the other side of the appartement and saw a few of police cars and ambulances.  “Oh no, something serious...

Let's Spend 50K Rupiah in Sanur!

Accidentally normal moment Let's imagine you're going to Sanur with me, and you have only 50K Rupiah to spend there. What would you do? Is 50K enough for that? 50K rupiah is about hmmm $3-$4 I guess. Well... let's find out!  Alright, since I drive my own scooter, so I need to spend 2K for parking fee at the beach. 2K is nothing. Then I'll leave my scooter and start to wander around the beach.  Low-profile Sanur is actually a lovely place to spend some time in. It may not be something fancy or hype like beach clubs in Canggu area, but... at least you'll spend way less here lol.  Alright, shall we start from the 5K lumpiyang for a simple breakfast? This is a real gem. It tastes better in the morning because it still piping hot! The sellers are everywhere. They usually start to sell around 7am. They come from many places, not only from Sanur. Some from Karangasem, some from Gianyar. Pretty far. Oh btw, there are also some sellers who come every afternoon so it's al...
